NursIT Institute – Digital documentation that connects
We develop software solutions for nursing and medical care processes — with a clear mission: to create structure, simplify work, and meaningfully connect systems.
Originally coming from clinical care documentation, we have continuously expanded our portfolio — evolving into a multiprofessional, interoperable platform for modern patient care.
Today, we provide more than software — we deliver practical solutions to three of healthcare's most pressing challenges:
-
careIT – our process-oriented clinical workplace system for bedside charting and care coordination
-
The FHIR®-based Clinical Data Repository (CDR) – enabling structured data integration and reuse across systems
-
Our Hospital@Home solution – supporting digital, mobile care delivery beyond the hospital setting
Our philosophy: structured documentation, open standards, and modular solutions. This is the only way to build flexible, future-ready IT ecosystems — with data that remains accessible across system boundaries and truly enables interprofessional collaboration.
careIT – Digital charting aligned with real-world care workflows.
careIT supports healthcare professionals with structured, digital charting directly at the point of care — with a clear focus on the actual workflows of nurses, physicians, and therapists.
Our clinical software, careIT, was co-developed from the ground up with nurses and medical professionals and is continuously refined in close alignment with clinical practice. Instead of navigating rigid data-entry forms, users in careIT work along their daily routines in a way that is intuitive, context-aware, and tailored to their specific professional role. Dedicated workspaces ensure that each professional group gets precisely the information and functions they need—for tasks like care planning, medical orders, therapy documentation, or structured assessments in areas such as wounds, mobility, nutrition, respiration, self-care, and many more.
Intelligent modules like SeMPA (meta-nursing assessment) and CarMa (careIT Intervention Catalog) provide targeted support for assessing care needs and planning complex care situations. A key benefit: careIT can automatically flag potential care requirements or risks based on the data entered, significantly reducing the daily workload for clinical staff.
careIT is used in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Geriatrics, Neurology, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, and outpatient care—as well as in many other inpatient specialties.
Thanks to open interfaces and full HL7® FHIR® compatibility, careIT integrates seamlessly into existing IT landscapes. In hospitals, careIT is typically integrated as a module within the primary HIS (Hospital Information System), while in outpatient settings, it can also be used as a standalone clinical workplace system with optional connections to other systems. Interoperability is a core component, ensuring structured data flows, transparent information, and seamless continuity of care.
careIT delivers measurable value right where care is delivered—for better patient outcomes and a tangible reduction in workload.
Hospital@Home – the clinic comes to your home.
Not every medically necessary treatment has to take place in the hospital – yet it still requires clinical quality, medical oversight, and structured digital charting. This is where Hospital@Home opens up new possibilities: as high-quality follow-up treatment at a clinical level, delivered where patients feel most secure – in the comfort of their own home.
Whether after surgery, during an infection, or in the case of worsening chronic conditions: Many treatments can now be continued in a home setting – professionally supported, digitally charted, and physician-supervised. Care can be initiated in various ways: early hospital discharge, referral from a primary care physician, or after presentation at the emergency room. Key elements include a Hospital@Home-specific triage, secure home-based care delivery – and seamless integration of medicine, nursing, and technology.
careIT Hospital@Home builds on the existing clinical documentation platform careIT – expanded to include all relevant content for safe home-based care. In the virtual station, all elements converge: A patient dashboard displays current vital signs, treatment documentation, and progress. Nurses and physicians capture all relevant information on-site via mobile devices – in a structured, role-based, and audit-proof manner. Video visits and telemedicine-integrated sensor solutions provide additional safety – even at a distance. Patient data is stored in real-time in the careIT Clinical Data Repository (CDR)
This creates a digital care unit that extends beyond the hospital building – continuing seamlessly across sectors.
Hospital@Home with careIT is not an ambulatory model but a extended hospital service. It provides medically led, interdisciplinary care that is documented digitally, ensuring greater patient safety. This model relieves pressure on the healthcare system while improving the quality of life for patients.
